Public Open Space “Art Hive”

Public Open Space “Art Hive” is a project dedicated to creating a multifunctional hub for learning, work and artistic self-expression.

Implementation Period: May 2018 – October 2018

Project goal: establishment of public open space “Art Hive”, which unites and meets cultural, educational, and leisure needs of Shumsk territorial community residents while providing a dedicated area for social interaction.

Art Hive is a space for workshops, meetings, idea exchange, and public events. This is where local artisans from 36 different settlements in Shumsk community were united and showcased, representing various crafts.

Project Impact

Public open space “Art Hive” became a pivotal step in developing the cultural infrastructure of Shumsk community and offered a modern multifunctional hub for learning, work, and artistic self-expression.

The project united craftspeople from 36 settlements for the first time, not only preserving local traditions but also fostering the growth of creative entrepreneurship through exhibitions and workshops. With modern additions like parklets and free Wi-Fi, the park has become a vibrant hub for the community to connect and enjoy quality recreation.

Objectives

  1. Establishing a public open space “Art Hive” in the Shumsk City Park.
  2. Uniting and showcasing artisans of diverse creative disciplines from 36 different settlements in Shumsk community.

Results

  • Parklets, bicycle racks, and free Wi-Fi have been installed in the Shumsk City Park.
  • The ‘Creative Community’ folk art exhibition and fair were held, showcasing a wide array of handcrafted items. The event featured exclusive gifts, unique bouquets, children’s accessories, and postcards, alongside home decor, soap embossed with the city emblem, knitted toys, and beadwork paintings. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by musical performances from students of the Shumsk Education Center for extra-curricular activities.
  • A series of workshops was held to promote creativity and empower local youth.
